First E-Mail from a member in Wyoming
: The Problem; A
"Notice of Federal Tax Lien" is somehow converted by the county clerk
into a "Lien". Then it
goes on our credit report as a "federal tax lien".
A real bummer. Hard to get a
credit card, buy a car, etc. Since the original is Contact Jonesy Second E-Mail: Hi all; We just got a letter from Equifax, the last one of
the credit reporting companies to report to us, and they have removed the
federal tax liens from our credit report, which we contested a long time ago
using Cliff Turner's info and method. We had complained to the Credit Reporting
companies about the incorrect info. You remember we contacted the three credit reporting
companies and asked them to remove the reference in our files to "federal
tax lien" because we had Contested them and the IRS had Defaulted on
proving up their claim to lien. The
credit companies said they would do an investigation.
The other two got back to us and the "liens" or "notice of
liens" which we had contested have been "deleted". Now Equifax has just sent us a letter and it says; "Below are the results of your request for
Equifax to re-investigate certain elements of your Equifax credit file.
Equifax contacted each source directly and our investigation is now
completed. If you have any
additional questions or concerns please contact the source of that information
directly. We have reviewed the lien information.
Case or ID #******* The
results are: This item has been updated to report satisfied/released.
If you have additional questions about this item please contact;
Lincoln County Clerk's Office" ......etc Then on the Credit File: There was another one with the exact wording except
for the amount of the "lien". (I put "lien" in quote marks because it is
as fraudulent as it can be. Our
Freedom of Information Act request proved beyond a doubt that the IRS created
the "liens" out of thin air by sending a "Notice of Federal Tax
Lien" to the What is really significant about this is that a lien
which was filed against us which we did not contest because we did not know
about it is still on the Credit Report. In
other words, it is not just because we protested the Credit report but because
they investigated and the Contest of Lien and Default to Contest of Lien did
their jobs and negated the contested "liens" while leaving the others
"valid". Note:
They do not remove the recorded "lien" but they put the Contest
of Lien and Default notices with it which satisfies or releases the lien.
Stalemates it. Jonesy Another success from a member in Maine 10/31/2005: Re: credit report investigation YEA! The report [about the so-called federal lien] has been REMOVED from my Experian credit report. Thank you so much, Cliff!
